Editorial policy
We aim to provide clear, cautious, and practical educational content for redness-prone skin. This page describes how that’s done.
Editorial process
Every article on this site goes through:
- Drafting by a writer with a defined topic brief, target reader, and a list of sources to consult.
- Source review — we cite from peer-reviewed dermatology literature (PubMed), professional societies (Canadian Dermatology Association, American Academy of Dermatology, Acne and Rosacea Society of Canada, National Rosacea Society), and major clinical references (Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, NHS) where appropriate.
- Medical review by Dr. Jason K. Rivers, MD, FRCPC, a board-certified dermatologist (see his author page for credentials and verifiable academic profiles).
- Editorial review by Dr. James Macdonald, MD, our Editorial Director.
- Publish with byline and “medically reviewed by” attribution. Articles are dated and re-reviewed when the underlying evidence changes.
Sources we prioritize
- Peer-reviewed dermatology journals indexed on PubMed (J Am Acad Dermatol, Br J Dermatol, J Cutan Med Surg, JAMA Dermatol, etc.).
- National clinical guidelines — particularly the Canadian Clinical Practice Guidelines for Rosacea (J Cutan Med Surg 2016) and updates from the Acne and Rosacea Society of Canada.
- Patient advocacy organizations — National Rosacea Society, Canadian Skin Patient Alliance.
- Major clinical references — Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic, NHS, AAD patient resources.
Medical boundaries
- Our content is educational and not medical advice.
- We avoid language that implies diagnosis, prescription, or cure.
- We include a “when to see a professional” section in articles where appropriate.
- If a reader has eye symptoms, severe burning, persistent worsening, or other red flags, we direct them to seek in-person care.
Ownership and commercial disclosure
This site is operated by Riversol Skincare Solutions Inc. Dr. Jason K. Rivers is the founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Riversol. The same Dr. Rivers reviews our editorial content for medical accuracy.
We treat that relationship the way the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and our own readers expect us to:
- Site-wide disclosure appears in the footer of every page.
- Article-level, when a Riversol product is mentioned by name or recommended, the article carries a clear “Sponsored partner” or “Made by the company that operates this site” callout.
- Sample-offer links to Riversol use
rel="sponsored"and are visually labelled as a partner offer. - Product reviews apply the same methodology to Riversol products as to competitor products. We do not preferentially rank Riversol when a competitor is a better fit.
- No paid placements. Brands cannot pay for review coverage or to be added to recommended lists. We add products to review lists based on prevalence, clinical relevance, or reader demand — not on commercial relationships.
Affiliate and sponsored relationships
- We may earn a commission when a reader redeems the Riversol free-sample offer linked from this site. There is no cost to the reader; the offer is genuinely free including shipping.
- Where applicable, individual articles disclose any other affiliate relationships at the top of the article.
- We do not accept payment for editorial coverage.
Updates and corrections
- We review and refresh content periodically — particularly when clinical guidance changes (e.g., new rosacea guidelines, new treatment indications).
- Each article carries a
pubDateand may carry anupdatedDateif it has been materially revised. - Spotted an error? Email info@rosaceaguide.org and we will correct quickly.
Privacy and tracking
We use Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity, and the Meta Pixel (when configured) to understand which articles serve readers well. We do not sell reader data. Analytics scripts are deferred to protect mobile page-load performance.
